"I operate 3 retail stores and a mail order business running Prism POS software for over 10 years and have found it to be an invaluable tool.  I used to hand write all receipts and perform manual inventory.  I researched several other POS systems and discovered that Prism had the simplicity and functionality at a fraction of the price of the closest competitor.  The simplicity allows me to train a new employee to operate the "Point of Sale" aspect in a matter of minutes.  You don't have to go thru multiple confusing screens to make a simple purchase and all check out procedures are easily prompted.  The functionality comes in to play when I want to run reports such as the "Stock Transfer" report which quickly allows me to see stock positions on an item in all locations on one screen and balance them as needed.  The time clock function is also instrumental in making sure employees are paid for only the hours they work.

 

I first went with Prism because it allowed for the huge number of SKU's my product line encounters (one shoe style may come in 4 colors, 20 sizes and 5 widths).  These quantities would overload most systems or just not even be possible.  Over the years we have had a few special requests and Jim Ryan at Prism has been able to customize the program to fit our need.  Their support has been very responsive and works well with their clients to share updates and product changes that may end up being beneficial for a variety of retail applications.  Having the the systems all networked together and using the "Nightly Transfer" functions allow me to work anytime day or night from my home computer.  I don't have to run over to the store to write an order, I can do it from home in my pajamas.

 

When I purchased my 3rd store they were already running a much more expensive POS system.  We quickly realized that we had to switch them over to Prism.  Not only did it allow us to get them onboard with our other location's network, but the staff (some who came over from the previous owner) were delighted in the ease of operation.  If anyone wants to buy a used Synchronics system, I'll sell it cheap.  I highly recommend Prism for any single or multi-user application."

"I cannot imagine running my store without Prism. I put in way too many hours with the help of Prism, it would be almost impossible without it.

 The daily and weekly things necessary to run a profitable shoe store such as filling in inventory are done in about 30 per cent of the time they would take without Prism. We fill in weekly and using Prism Model Stock allows me to accomplish that in about 15 to 30 minutes, from start to finish. I use the inventory and sales reports to identify the inventory that needs to be put on models, and the inventory that needs to be marked down or have a PM put on it. I also use those reports at least weekly.

 I think one of the most important parts of Prism is the purchase order system. It not only allows you to keep track of your purchases, it also lets you keep track of special orders and links the inventory to the customer that ordered it.

 I use the customer data to help create business, we send a birthday 15% off card every month to all of our customers. I also use special mail outs and phone calls to tell our customers about the shoes that I think will interest them.

 When you add on all of the other things Prism does like barcodes and keeping track of payroll and financial data to input into my Quick books the hours saved are very substantial."
